Why did you choose your industry?Agriculture is the MOST important industry and has an effect on the entire planet and all people. If you want to make a real impact to as many people as possible, choose Agriculture.
Who are your typical clients?Farmers of all sizes and all crops in all geographies. Today, we have a focus on specialty crop growers in California as we have a market edge.
What do you like best about being in this industry?You can make a real impact to all humans in their health and life in agriculture.
What are common problems you see?Input costs, pesticide over-use, dealing with weeds and pests, labor shortages, crop loss, food scarcity and food security.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Once you have a proven business case for new technology, move faster and get faster results.
When is your busy season?We see a little more activity from Nov-March, but we can sell our technology in all seasons.
What keeps you up at night?The fact that agriculture can dramatically reduce the use of pesticides, lower costs and bring healthier foods and communities FAST, but working in Agriculture is slow.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?We use a variety of methods: Digital Media, Website, Social Media, Podcasts, Printed Media, Magazines, Flyers, AgTech and Agriculture trade shows, events, custom demonstration days, collaboration with universities, collaboration with influencers and TV shows, going to places where farmers hang out, professional organizations, direct emails, and word or mouth.
How involved are you in the community?I've been a volunteer with many organizations, local churches, food banks, kids sport coach, American Heart Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?So many to choose from, but I really like Goodwill.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?If you are willing to work hard, it will be the MOST rewarding feeling ever! So many problems to solve for the human race.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Walking my dog, hiking, backpacking, meeting friends, cooking, playing with the grandkids, live music (especially jazz).
